The stock rates in about Fine Plus to Excellent overall condition.īore Condition: The bore is bright semi bright at the muzzle. The LOP measures 13 1/4 inches from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttplate. The wood shows a few light scrapes, small scratches & compression marks. The left side of the butt shows a single deep compression mark. The buttplate door does not flip up completely we did not try to force it.

Stock Configuration & Condition: The oil stained stock has a straight grip, raised check piece, 2 nosecaps, 2 barrel bands, 3 sling loops and a metal buttplate with hinged door for storage. They each have a threaded hole for accepting the scope mount screws. The left side of the receiver has 2 scope bases attached to it by screws. The rear sight is a flip up sight ladder with a sliding aperture. Sights / Optics: The front sight is dovetail set bladed post set between two protective ears. It is headed “EQUIPMENT, RIFLE No.4 (SNIPING).” The interior of the chest’s lid has a large sticker on it that lists in detail equipment originally included in the chest. One side of the chest has a tag marked “D35566” in pencil and is stamped “B1/BA 10317 / EQUIPMENTS No4 T.W. The top of the chest has “BUNDLE #5” written on it in marker. There other markings on the exterior of the chest that have been painted over. The Canadian No15 MkI Wooden transit chest is marked “CHEST S.A. The top of the grip is marked “318 C” it was matched to the scope serial number. The top of the front sight is marked “.045”. The rear sight is marked “S” in two places but is also stamped with a Canadian acceptance mark. The magazine well is marked “S” a Savage part. There are small “LB” (Long Branch factory mark) stampings on the bolt head, cocking indicator, safety, both barrel bands, face of the front sight wings, top of the front sight and on the rear of the magazine.

The bolt head has a few over stamped markings on it. The cocking indicator, rear sight, safety, rear of the receiver, front scope mount, trigger guard, buttplate storage door, bottom front of the handguard and bottom of the grip are all marked with an “arrow inside a C” a Canadian acceptance mark (page 31 of Charles Stratton’s book, British Enfield Rifles Volume 2, 3rd Edition, Lee-Enfield No. The top of the bolt handle knob is marked with an “asterisk”.
